LOGO DESIGN / PRINT DESIGN
CLIENT/CREATIVE BRIEF
Nestled in the heart of Georgetown, Texas, Bright Sight Eye Care is the go-to destination for personalized eye care. As a
locally owned and operated optometry clinic, they pride themselves on
offering tailored solutions to individual needs, ensuring every patient
receives the care they deserve.
They entrusted me with the task of creating a primary logo that would serve as the beginning of their brand identity and for merchandise purposes.
Programs used: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Notion
PRELIMINARY INTERVIEW PROCESS
I arranged video call meetings to ensure what I and the client envisioned for the logo are on the same path, where I wrote down these objectives after creating moodboards and asking questions:
- Specific attributes that the logo should be associated with: eyes, guidance, aesthetically practical
-
Wanted to be marketable towards adults, specifically millennials
- Usage of mellow colors, “nothing too bright”
- Finding a balance between the “logo not being too cartoon-y but also not too serious”
- Clients lean more towards eye and glasses designs but are open to other ideas
DESIGN ITERATIONS
I began sketching out ideas based on the moodboards, ensuring I kept in mind to create designs I felt conveyed feelings of being aesthetically practical and finding that balance as stated before.
From these sketches, I created quick mock ups while also playing around with different color schemes as well.
We decided on going ahead with the design with the beige background as the design represents an eye, best representing the clinic’s purpose as well as a nod to the name “Bright Sight”, with how it could also be interpreted as a rising sun. With further discussion, I also took notes on what they’d like to see improved:
- Would like the color scheme to be more on the blue side
-
Font was too rounded, continue trying out new fonts
- Add in sun rays into the eyelashes to be more obivous and play around with pupil design
FINAL DESIGN
I created more mock ups where I took the notes into consideration, specifically:
-
Adding in dashes in between the “eyelashes” to emulate sun rays
- Creating multiple pupil designs
- Testing out different fonts
and showed them to my client as shown below:
After discussing with my client, we came to the finalization of the logo design:
CONCLUSION
Both the client and I agreed that this final iteration was in the sweet spot beteen “cartoon-y” and “serious”, having an abstract feeling of the sun but still noticable as an eye with lashes. The muted and calm colors were chosen to create a serene feeling. I then made sure the logo was print ready by providing PANTONE colors and merchandise mock ups.
Overall, continuous iterations and communication through weekly updates helped to make this project go smoothly and effectively!
