EMPLOYER/CREATIVE BRIEF
Gladway, a leading B2B disposables producer based in California, supplies to local restaurants, chain facilities, and supply distributors both statewide and beyond. I began as a Marketing Intern and was later promoted to Digital Designer to maintain Feast Source, their exciting new B2C food disposable producer venture.
In my roles as a Marketing Intern and then Digital Designer, I was responsible for creating digital assets for email campaigns/marketing materials, crafting HTML email templates, monitoring KPI, and enhancing the user interface of their website.
Programs used: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Canva, Figma, Notion, Shopify
MARKETING INTERN
During my internship, I took on various responsibilities such as
creating flyers, updating the product catalog, creating print ready product labels, and maintaining the
Gladway website by updating products on Wordpress. Throughout each creative endeavor, I prioritized
consistent communication and efficiency with my team, especially
considering our small size and varying levels of design expertise of those members. This experience paved the way for my promotion to Digital Designer as they placed me in charge of their new B2C company called Feast Source, a testament to the experience and knowledge I gained during my time with
Gladway.
DIGITAL DESIGNER (WEB DESIGN)
When I was first in charge of Feast Source, I had to get the website up and running. We used the Shopify platform to build the website, where I utilized pre-set page templates, created digital assets, incorporated UI design, and HTML/CSS knowledge to create and publish their website within a timeframe of 2 weeks!
I conducted UX research on direct (disposable container providers) and indirect (food industry) competitors’ websites to gain insight on:
- User experience of website navigation
- Features they all have in common
- User pain points (missing features, “I wish they had...”, etc.)
With that finished,
I began creating a site map that is optimized for target customers’ user journey on the website. After conferring with my marketing team and gaining approval, I set out to create quick website pages from templates, using UI principles to ensure effectiveness, accessibility, and intuitiveness.
I created, complied, and organized collection and product images, as well as adding personality to the website by implementing copy and colors fitting of the company.
With the completion of the website, I then continued to maintain and troubleshoot any problems through HTML coding.
You can view the website here.
DIGITAL DESIGNER (EMAIL DESIGN)
Utilizing the Shopify emaily builder, HTML/CSS/JS skills, A/B testing, and programs such as Figma and Illustrator, I was in charge of creating and maintaining marketing/blog email templates and workflow automations that are consistent.
To create the email templates, I created A/B versions of variables I needed to test (subject lines, copy length, colors, etc.) and sent those emails to segmented groups. The designs with results such as higher Click-Through and Open Rates would then be sent out to the overall customers.
This process would be repeated for all variables until the most optimal email template has been created, keeping the version with variables that yielded most results.
DIGITAL MARKETING
I analyzed my web and email campaigns’ performances by using
Shopify and Google Analytics, overseeing digital marketing initiatives.
I successfully increased overall product
sales by 10% and customer retention rates by 25% through identifying trends in both
high-performing products and customer preferences, allowing for targeted
optimization efforts.
